Inspired by Artist Flora Bowley’s approach of painting intuitively with symbols & freedom of semi abstract, I reworked over a canvas I had painted years ago, started with an acrylic pour of mixed colours. After this layer had dried, cracked & semi-peeled in places, I continued with strong coloured lines and symbols.....with layers fading out to this final soft & dripping finish.
In a quirky way, I am the only person on the planet, that intimately knows the many layers of this painting.... while that is quite insignificant, it mirrors the truth of our lives.
Each of us are made up of many layers..... sometimes life changes us so much, it’s like we have to start our painting again. Layer over layer until we are where we need to be.
It is only us as individuals that truly & intimately know all our layers.... some that are dreams still hidden, others that are revealing as our dreams come true.
This painting feels like a tribute to all of us that have had to change our life, grown stronger, more flexible & resilient, as our layers reveal to us our hidden dreams.
